IN THIS SEMI-PRIVATE WORKSHOP,
you
will explore the diverse culture, architecture and landscape
of Northern New Mexico
in this workshop, learning how best
to capture the “power and
beauty” with your camera. This workshop is for photographers who want more
personal and one-on-one help during their photographic journey. Craig will adjust
the schedule to the needs
and preferences of the group. The workshop will be limited to four participants
and is based in Santa Fe.Georgia O'Keeffe. Frederic Remington. Elliot Porter.
Laura Gilpin. Marsden Hartley. Come and live for yourself the land that influenced
these artists’ ways
of seeing, thinking, and creating. We’ll consider aesthetics of New Mexico — a
way of seeing land and light, people and place, mountain and mission — that
calls for a new approach to taking photographs, appropriate to this climate and
culture.
Field trips involve exploring how to capture the essence of a place — from
picking the best vantage point to photograph to knowing what filter to use; shooting
from the hip for those marvelous spontaneous moments; and the patience to set
up your tripod and wait for the magical light of New Mexico. Subjects that you
will have the opportunity to photograph could include: historic adobe haciendas
and churches, creeks and ponds, desert and mountain landscapes, shepherd’s
hut or, farmhouse, trees, sunrises and sunsets.
This workshop is open to all photographers
interested in exploring the diverse culture, landscape and
architecture
of New Mexico with their camera. You should
have a working knowledge of your camera, film or digital. Digital shooters must
bring a laptop computer with editing software and be self sufficient with their
computer and software.
