Autumn Landscape Workshop:

Photographing Fall Color on Wisconsin's beautiful Madeline Island

Challenge yourself and improve your image-making vision with award-winning photographer Craig Varjabedian! Craig grew up in nearby Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan and is excited to be coming back to photograph this beautiful landscape along the shores of Lake Superior.

WHAT: The area’s varied terrain, while we access hidden trails and outlooks along the way. Whether you are focusing your camera at the famous Lake Superior red sandstone cliffs and Sea Caves or capturing the dynamic weather and fall color, you’ll be sure to walk away with photographs of a lifetime.

WHO: This workshop is a terrific for all digital photographers who are essentially familiar with their cameras. You will need to know, before you get here, how to set and use auto bracketing on your camera if your camera has this feature. You should be able to download, edit and manage images on your laptop computer and be able to output an image file for review and comment as time permits. You will need to be able to carry your own gear and be capable of walking/hiking on varied terrain for each field trip.

PLAN: Enjoy daily instruction in the field along the shores and back roads of this very special location and receive feedback on your images while learning about such aspects of digital photography as histograms and be introduced to HDR. Weather permitting we will photograph the night sky!

BACKGROUND: Madeline Island is one of the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior. Visitors can travel to the island by way of a ferry boat from Bayfield, Wisconsin or the island airport. The Island is home to the town of La Pointe, Big Bay State Park and the magnificent 2-mile Big Bay Beach, along with the Madeline Island School of the Arts.

WHAT TO BRING: Lots of enthusiasm for making pictures. Your digital camera with lenses, a tripod and filters. A laptop computer with Lightroom software installed and working. (We will provide a complete list of necessary gear before the workshop begins.)

QUESTIONS: Have any questions, suggestions or concerns? Feel free to contact us any time – our expert team will be more than happy to help! Call Cindy at (505) 983-2934 or email

NOTES: We highly recommend you purchase travel/trip insurance in case you need to cancel.
